TO BOND WITH YOUR BABY BEFORE ITS BIRTH AND LEARN BREATHING AND RELAXATION TECHNIQUES THROUGH YOUR OWN VOICE
Singing for your well-being
Singing produces vibrations which spread throughout the body and massage both mother and child. It is a beneficial and soothing enveloping sound that the mother offers both to her baby and to herself, an enveloping sound in which the partner may actively participate for everyone's happiness.
Bonding with your child through singing
A baby can hear from week 20 and responds to external sounds from week 24. From that moment on, it recognises the surrounding voices and especially that of his mother. It hears bass sounds better than treble sounds which are filtered through the amniotic fluid.Often, the child responds clearly to the submersion in singing and to some songs in particular!
Mobilising your breathing and pelvisPrenatal singing helps mothers-to-be to enjoy being physically mobile, notably at pelvis level, and to use the breathing and respiration in a beneficial way for overall relaxation, but also for the purpose of preparing for childbirth.
Expressing and channelling your emotions by vocalising them
During pregnancy, so-called positive emotions such as joy, but also so-called negative emotions such as sadness or anxiety, are often exacerbated. Singing and vocal expression provide relief from inner tension and emotions.
Managing pain more easilyThe conscious use of breathing and vocalisation provide valuable help to manage pain, whether in the delivery room, or at any difficult moment in life.
What happens at a prenatal singing session? The sessions are aimed at individuals, couples or small groups of 3-4 women.
They last one and a half hours.
They include body and postural work to awaken the body and voice, breathing and resonance exercises, relaxation exercises according to the needs of the woman, couple or group. Then the vocalisation of well-being, always gently, and simple songs: a small repertoire of cradle songs of the world and children's songs is selected and learnt.
To finish, a shared moment is proposed, which can be vocalised or spoken.
An prenatal singing session can start at any time during pregnancy, but preferably before the 7th month.
CHF 400 for a workshop of 5 group sessions of 90 minutes, workshop renewable.
CHF 150 for a session of 75 minutes, individual or couple.
The sessions are reimbursed by some complementary health insurance companies. Contact your respective health insurance company for more information on reimbursement for prenatal singing or music therapy.
