Envol en Voix: voice workshop and music therapy in Geneva and Versoix

Anne Bolli

Anne Bolli - En vol en voix - Geneva - VersoixAs a member of the Swiss Professional Association of Music Therapy, which includes more than 250 music therapists, a committee member, holder of a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS/ZFH) in clinical music therapy from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and a diploma from the School of Music Therapy in French-speaking Switzerland (Ecole Romande de Musicothérapie :ERM), and affiliated member of ASCA and RME, I have been practising music therapy for more than 10 years in my firm Envol en Voix voice workshop and music therapy, which is attended mainly by adults. As a trainer I also engage with professionals: carers, teachers and therapists, etc. and work jointly with the Envol en Voix Association (AEEV) and with the School and District Association of Versoix.

Music therapy

Music, songs, tales and stories, imagination, expression and movement have always deeply nurtured me from early childhood.

Firstly Jaques-Dalcroze Eurhythmics: For more than 20 years, I happily taught music to children and  adolescents via physical movement. Moreover, feeling I was more therapist than teacher, I studied music therapy in order to support people more personally in their lives, both children and adolescents as well as adults. Always with live music and  expression as a means of in-depth contact.

As a music therapist, my diverse studies in the fields of therapy, expression (both physical, theatrical and musical), and my personal career secured me various tools for listening and helping people who come to me for a consultation because of problems that may or may not be related to the voice.

Everyone's story is unique and contains within it its own music. During music therapy, no therapeutic approach sounds like another!

Voice workshops

Me with my tinny reedy voice running voice workshops? I never imagined that one day I would be offering this ...

I felt that my real voice was more powerful than the voice I emitted, but I was unable to access it, despite sadly unsuitable singing courses for the untalented like me. On the journey to find my voice, via approaches such as those, among others, of the Roy Hart Theatre, harmonic singing, the Alexander technique and "Marie-Louise Aucher Psychophonie", I made important discoveries and found support in my long and sometimes frustrating quest.

When I (finally!) experienced my voice as a physical vibration, this wonderful feeling became a simple and valuable way for me to refocus and recharge my batteries, the "royal path" that leads to well-being. But in order to envisage then dare to share this tool with others, I had to gradually integrate a new vocal image of myself.

Subsequently, my vocal handicaps have instead become assets helping others to find their own voice. Incidentally, I mention them in advance, to the great relief of the participants at my voice workshops or other courses for awakening the use of the voice.

Envol en voix voice workshop and music therapy

Envol en Voix voice workshop and music therapy was established in 2005 and offers a place for self-expression, listening and perceiving in a different way, and for being supported and listened to at a very personal level.

Sounds, voice and music are simple and powerful means for exploring the relationship with oneself, others and the world.

Envol en Voix developed gradually, following requests from participants in small groups exploring the voice and songs of the world and in individual voice sessions or music therapy.

Association Envol en Voix (AEEV)

The AEEV, a non-profit-making association incorporated in 2012, organises voice workshops and Songs of the World sessions that are open to everyone, in keeping with the Envol en Voix way. It offers occasional workshops in large groups, as well as weekly courses and workshops in small groups.

School and District Association of Versoix (AEQV)

Since 2012 Envol en Voix has also been working with the School and District Association of Versoix (AEQV) and offers courses entitled Voice and Well-being  Level 1  (equivalent to fapping into your voice) and Level 2 (Songs of the World one evening per month in Versoix)

Individual music therapy or voice workshop sessions can be agreed directly with Anne Bolli.
